In the US, Pinterest Sends More Traffic Than Instagram Does
That sentence is true on the numbers and it is ignored in almost every US social media brief we see. Pinterest carries 5.08% of American social referrals against Instagram’s 4.55% — and where Instagram is where a brand feels obliged to be, Pinterest is where somebody is deciding what to buy. Being unfashionable is the only reason it keeps getting left out.

Where American social traffic actually comes from
StatCounter, July 2026, referral share of social traffic to websites. The order is the useful part, and it is not the order most plans assume.
- FacebookUSA 74.72% · UK 72.79% · Pakistan 91.71%
- TwitterUSA 9.91% · the highest of the UK, USA and Pakistan
- PinterestUSA 5.08% · UK 3.46% · ahead of Instagram here
- InstagramUSA 4.55% · UK 7.50% · lower than in Britain
- RedditUSA 2.91% · small, and unusually high-intent
- YouTubeUSA 1.97% · the lowest of the UK, USA and Pakistan
The caveat, because without it these numbers get misused. This measures referral traffic to websites — clicks that left a platform and landed somewhere else. It is not usage, attention or time spent. Pinterest is built to send people away; Instagram is built to keep them. So part of the gap in row three is genuine commercial behaviour and part is simply how the two products are designed. What the number does support is a narrower and more useful claim: if the objective is traffic and purchase intent rather than brand presence, Pinterest is under-served in the United States and Instagram is over-served. That is a budget decision, and it is the one this page is about.
Fashion decides US social budgets more than data does
Ask an American business where its social budget goes and the answer is almost always Instagram first, then Facebook, then whichever platform was in the trade press that quarter. Ask why Instagram is first and the answer is rarely a number — it is that Instagram is where brands are expected to be. That expectation is real and it is not the same thing as a plan.
Pinterest is the clearest example of the cost. It is a search engine that looks like a social network: people arrive with an intent, save things they are considering, and act on them weeks later. Pins keep surfacing long after publication, which makes the work behave more like content marketing than like posting. For anything visual with a purchase attached — home, food, apparel, weddings, fitness, interiors — ignoring it because it feels unfashionable is a choice with a price.
The second under-priced channel is Reddit, and it needs stating carefully. Its referral share is small, the audience is hostile to marketing, and a brand that arrives promoting itself will be removed and remembered. What it does have is unusual intent: people ask for recommendations by name and read the answers closely. It is a place to be genuinely useful under your own name or not to be at all, and there is no half-measure that works.
None of this argues against Instagram. It argues against Instagram-by-default. The right US mix is usually two platforms chosen deliberately — Facebook for reach because the numbers are unambiguous, plus whichever second platform matches how your buyers actually decide. For a lot of American businesses that second platform is not the one currently taking the budget.
- ✓Pinterest outranks Instagram on referrals — 5.08% against 4.55%. It behaves like a search engine and pins keep earning.
- ✓Twitter is highest here of our markets — 9.91%, against 7.53% in the UK and 1.72% in Pakistan.
- ✓Reddit is small and high-intent — People ask for recommendations by name. Arrive promoting yourself and you will be removed.
- ✓Instagram is lower here than in Britain — 4.55% against 7.50%, which is the opposite of how most US plans are weighted.
- ✓Two platforms, chosen deliberately — Facebook plus one that matches how your buyers decide. Not five done badly.
Instagram is where an American brand feels obliged to be. Pinterest is where somebody is deciding what to buy. Only one of those is a reason to spend money.
What US social management actually involves
Six things, ordered by what the American mix rewards rather than by what is expected.
Platform Choice on Evidence
Two platforms picked from how your buyers decide, not from what a competitor is doing. This is the decision that determines whether the rest of the budget does anything.
Pinterest as a Search Channel
Boards and pins built around what people actually search for, with the site ready to receive them. Pins keep surfacing months later, which makes this behave like content marketing rather than posting.
Facebook for Reach
Unambiguous on the numbers at 74.72% of referrals, and usually the platform where paid does the closing while organic does the proof.
Twitter Where It Fits
Highest referral share of the UK, USA and Pakistan, and genuinely useful for B2B, media and anything news-adjacent. Not for everyone, and we will say when it is not.
Reddit, Carefully or Not at All
Useful under your own name, answering questions properly. There is no half-measure: arrive promoting yourself and you are removed and remembered.
Reporting Against Intent
Where the traffic came from and what it did, in USD, rather than a follower graph that climbs while the enquiries do not.
What clients say
Real clients, quoted in their own words — published with their permission.
“Working with Ghalib resulted in a boost in our organic traffic.”
“It was a pleasure working with Ghalib and his team.”
“Highly professional and dedicated to achieving results.”

— Our Proprietary Methodology —
The Visibility Framework™, applied in the USA
The method doesn’t change by market. What it’s pointed at does.
Audit & Listen
Existing accounts, competitor feeds, audience demographics and every comment and review already written about you. Ends with a recommendation on which platforms to keep.
Position & Plan
Content pillars, brand voice, visual direction and a first calendar — agreed with you before a single post is produced.
Produce & Publish
Shooting, editing, writing, scheduling and replying. The part that has to happen every week without fail, which is where most in-house efforts quietly stop.
Amplify & Refine
Budget behind proven pieces, formats that underperform dropped, and the calendar rewritten monthly around what the data actually said.
Honest, No-Nonsense Commitment
Nobody controls a platform’s algorithm, so we will never promise you a viral post or a follower number. What we do commit to: the agreed content volume ships every month, every comment and DM is answered inside the agreed window, and if we miss either, that month is on us.
Social Media Management pricing for the USA, in USD
Quoted and invoiced in dollars. What moves the number is how much production is ours and whether the second platform needs its own format — Pinterest wants stills and vertical graphics, Twitter wants none of that, and those are different weeks of work.

What you’re actually committing to
Most agencies keep this in a contract you only see after the sales call. We would rather you knew now, because it is the question everyone asks second — right after the price.
- A 3-month initial term, then month to monthThree months is the shortest period in which a content approach can be judged honestly — month one is mostly setup and production. The wider industry standard is 6 to 12 months.
- 30 days’ notice to stopNo exit fee and no buy-out of the months you haven’t used. You leave when you decide to, not when the contract lets you.
- No setup or onboarding feeThe audit is free, and month one costs exactly what month two costs. Nothing is front-loaded.
- You own everythingAccounts, page roles, ad accounts, raw footage and every finished asset — in your name from day one, and still yours if we part ways.
- Ad spend never touches our invoiceYou pay the platform directly and keep the billing under your own control. Our fee is our fee.
- An agreed response windowThe time we commit to replying to comments and DMs is written into your agreement, not left to goodwill.
These are the terms as they appear in the agreement itself — nothing here is softened for the website. The full wording lives in our terms and conditions, and you get the agreement to read before anything is signed or invoiced.
