Social Media for Travel & Hospitality

The Person Messaging You Is Already on the Train

In most sectors a social message is an enquiry. Here it is frequently an operational event: a guest whose train is late, a booking that cannot be found, a room that is not ready, a question at eleven at night from somebody standing in your reception. That is a live service channel wearing a marketing job title — and running it from a content calendar is why it goes wrong.

The Numbers First

Six messages that are not marketing enquiries

Each of these needs somebody who can act, not somebody who can post. That distinction is the whole design of the channel.

  • Arriving late, will the desk be openNeeds an answer within minutes
  • Cannot find the bookingAnd is standing at the door
  • Something is wrong with the roomPublic, if it is not answered privately
  • A question at eleven at nightWhen nobody is monitoring
  • A complaint posted during the stayFixable now · permanent if missed
  • A tagged photo from a guestThe best content you will get

The fifth row is the one with a genuine window. A complaint posted while somebody is still on the premises can usually be resolved in person, and frequently ends with a better review than if nothing had gone wrong. The same complaint noticed on Monday is a permanent public record, and no reply written three days later recovers it.

Straight Talk

Cover the hours when guests are actually arriving

The covered hours for a hotel or venue are not office hours, and pretending otherwise is the single biggest failure in this sector. Guests arrive in the evening, travel on Sundays and worry at night. If the account is monitored between nine and five on weekdays, it is closed during the entire period when the operational messages arrive — which is when it is most visibly closed to everybody reading.

The second requirement is authority. A message about a missing booking is useless if it has to be escalated to somebody who checks on Monday. The person answering needs to be able to look at the reservation system, or be sitting next to whoever can. In practice this frequently means the account is best handled partly by the front desk, with us covering the rest — and we would rather propose that arrangement than pretend an agency alone is the right answer.

For content, the material is already happening and mostly not being captured. What the kitchen is doing today, what the weather has done to the view, what is on this weekend, what the works out front mean for arrivals. Ten seconds and a phone from somebody on shift beats a planned shoot from three months ago, and it is honest in a way a styled photograph cannot be.

And guest photographs are the best content the account will ever have, with the same qualifier as everywhere else on this site: ask, keep the permission, and reshare generously. It costs nothing, it is more persuasive than anything you produce, and it makes the person who posted it far more likely to come back.

  • Cover evenings and Sundays — That is when guests arrive, travel and worry.
  • The answer needs the reservation system — Escalation to Monday is not an answer.
  • Front desk plus agency, usually — We would rather propose that than pretend otherwise.
  • Ten seconds on shift beats a shoot — Today’s kitchen, today’s weather, this weekend.
  • Guest photos, asked for and reshared — The best content you will ever have, and it is free.

What we run for a hotel or operator

Six things, and the first two are operational rather than editorial.

01

Hours Matched to Arrivals

Evenings and weekends covered, because that is when the operational messages come. Office hours in this sector means closed during the period that matters.

02

Answers With Real Authority

Access to the reservation position, or a route to the front desk that works in minutes. A message about a missing booking cannot wait for Monday.

03

In-Stay Complaints Caught Live

Flagged to the property while the guest is still there, because that is the only window in which it can be fixed rather than answered.

04

Content From the Shift

Ten seconds and a phone: today’s kitchen, today’s view, this weekend, the works out front. Honest in a way a styled shoot from last spring cannot be.

05

Guest Photos, Asked and Reshared

Permission requested and kept, resharing done generously. Free, more persuasive than anything produced, and it makes people come back.

06

Reviews Answered Individually

Every one, including the bad ones, without a template. In this sector the replies are read as carefully as the reviews, and a copied response is obvious.

— Our Proprietary Methodology —

The Visibility Framework™, applied in Travel & Hospitality

The method doesn’t change by market. What it’s pointed at does.

Step 01

Audit & Listen

Existing accounts, competitor feeds, audience demographics and every comment and review already written about you. Ends with a recommendation on which platforms to keep.

Step 02

Position & Plan

Content pillars, brand voice, visual direction and a first calendar — agreed with you before a single post is produced.

Step 03

Produce & Publish

Shooting, editing, writing, scheduling and replying. The part that has to happen every week without fail, which is where most in-house efforts quietly stop.

Step 04

Amplify & Refine

Budget behind proven pieces, formats that underperform dropped, and the calendar rewritten monthly around what the data actually said.

Honest, No-Nonsense Commitment

Nobody controls a platform’s algorithm, so we will never promise you a viral post or a follower number. What we do commit to: the agreed content volume ships every month, every comment and DM is answered inside the agreed window, and if we miss either, that month is on us.

Investment

Social Media Management pricing for Travel & Hospitality, in USD

Priced against covered hours, and the honest arrangement here is usually a split: your front desk handles what needs the reservation system, we handle everything else and the content. We would rather propose that than sell you a version where an agency alone answers a guest standing in your reception.

What you’re actually committing to

Most agencies keep this in a contract you only see after the sales call. We would rather you knew now, because it is the question everyone asks second — right after the price.

  • A 3-month initial term, then month to monthThree months is the shortest period in which a content approach can be judged honestly — month one is mostly setup and production. The wider industry standard is 6 to 12 months.
  • 30 days’ notice to stopNo exit fee and no buy-out of the months you haven’t used. You leave when you decide to, not when the contract lets you.
  • No setup or onboarding feeThe audit is free, and month one costs exactly what month two costs. Nothing is front-loaded.
  • You own everythingAccounts, page roles, ad accounts, raw footage and every finished asset — in your name from day one, and still yours if we part ways.
  • Ad spend never touches our invoiceYou pay the platform directly and keep the billing under your own control. Our fee is our fee.
  • An agreed response windowThe time we commit to replying to comments and DMs is written into your agreement, not left to goodwill.

These are the terms as they appear in the agreement itself — nothing here is softened for the website. The full wording lives in our terms and conditions, and you get the agreement to read before anything is signed or invoiced.

Travel & Hospitality Social Media Management questions, answered

Why do you insist on evening and weekend cover? +
Because that is when the messages arrive. Guests travel on Sundays, arrive in the evening and worry at night. An account monitored nine to five on weekdays is closed during the exact period when operational messages come in — and it is visibly closed, to everybody reading.
Not alone, and we would rather say so. A message about a missing booking needs somebody who can see the reservation system. The arrangement that works is usually a split: your front desk handles what needs live access, we handle everything else and the content, with the boundary written down.
Get it to the property immediately, because that is the only window in which it can be fixed rather than answered. A complaint resolved while the guest is still there frequently ends with a better review than if nothing had gone wrong. The same complaint noticed on Monday is a permanent public record and no reply recovers it.
What is happening today. The kitchen, the weather on the view, what is on this weekend, what the building works mean for arrivals. Ten seconds and a phone from somebody on shift beats a shoot from three months ago, and it is honest in a way styled photography cannot be.
Ask, keep the permission, and reshare generously. Guest photographs are the best content the account will ever have, they cost nothing, and resharing makes the person who posted it noticeably more likely to come back. The asking part is not optional.
No. In this sector the replies are read as carefully as the reviews, often by somebody deciding between you and one other property, and a copied response is immediately obvious. Individual replies take longer and are one of the highest-value things on the account.
