Social Media & Content Lead — United Kingdom
Strategy through production for UK audiences — shooting and editing real content, then replying to the comments, in a market where overclaiming loses the room faster than silence does.
Paid task, never free work · Feedback either way · 2–3 weeks end to end
About this job
Most social roles are a scheduling job with a content calendar attached. This one is not. The reason our social work performs is that we produce original material with clients rather than around them — which means cameras, editing, and the judgement to know which customer story is worth telling. You would own the whole loop for your accounts: what gets made, when it goes out, and who replies to the person commenting at 11pm. This role covers our UK clients, so you would work UK hours and know that market’s habits: buyers who react badly to hard selling, review sensitivity higher than anywhere else we operate, and GDPR shaping how things get built rather than being documented afterwards.
What you’ll do
- Take a brief from strategy through to shooting and editing, not to a stock library
- Reply to the comments afterwards, because that is where the account is actually won
- Write for an audience that finds overclaiming embarrassing rather than persuasive
- Work with review sensitivity higher than anywhere else we operate — one bad thread travels
- Keep consent and tagging lawful under GDPR when user content is involved
- Say when a trend is wrong for the client, including when it would have performed
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years running social for brands, agency or in-house
- A feel for British tone — understatement, and humour that does not translate from US accounts
- You can actually shoot and edit — a portfolio matters far more than a CV here
- Comfortable filming with clients and their customers
- Judgement about what should never be automated or auto-replied
- Able to work United Kingdom client hours from wherever you are based
Nice to have, not required
- Experience with UK creator and micro-influencer rates, and what they actually deliver
- A personal account or body of work you built yourself
- Photography or motion design background
You’d probably be unhappy here if…
- You want a purely strategic role with no production
- You would rather schedule content than create it
- You are uncomfortable being on camera duty with clients
- Your reference examples are all American brands
We put this on every job for the same reason we put it on every service page: finding out in month three costs us both far more than reading it now.
What you get
- The range, before the first call — we tell you what the role pays before you spend time on it, we do not negotiate people down from it, and we will not ask what you currently earn.
- Remote — United Kingdom — we ask for overlap hours with the team and your clients, not a chair.
- Paid learning time — courses, conferences and certifications covered, with time in the week to use them.
- Your own tooling budget, including AI tooling. Nobody here does a job badly because a licence was refused.
- A portfolio you keep — with client permission, the work is yours to show.
- A capped client load — we limit how many accounts we take on precisely so nobody carries twelve.
How to apply
Send us something you have built — a site, an audit, a campaign, a workflow, a piece of writing — along with a short note about why this role. A CV on its own tells us very little, and we would rather read one real thing than three pages of bullet points.
Put “Social Media & Content Lead” in the subject line. We read every application and we reply either way, usually with a reason. If we go quiet for more than a week, chase us — that is our failure, not yours.
No recruiters or agencies, please. We hire directly and always have.
Other open roles
Not quite right? See everything we’re hiring for — or write to us anyway, which is how several people here started.
