The Role

About this job

You would take four to six accounts and be genuinely responsible for them: what gets audited, what gets built, what gets said on the call, and what the number does at the end of the quarter. We are small enough that there is no account manager in between and no senior person reviewing your work before it ships. That is the appeal, and also the part people find uncomfortable in the first month. This role covers our UK clients, so you would work UK hours and know that market’s habits: buyers who react badly to hard selling, review sensitivity higher than anywhere else we operate, and GDPR shaping how things get built rather than being documented afterwards.

What you’ll do

  • Run full technical audits and turn them into a roadmap somebody can actually execute
  • Own client relationships directly — the calls, the reporting and the difficult conversations
  • Plan content and digital PR alongside the social and web leads rather than in isolation
  • Build AI-search visibility into every engagement as standard, not as an upsell
  • Tell clients when something is not worth doing, including when it costs us scope

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years in SEO with real technical depth — crawling, indexation, Core Web Vitals, schema
  • Evidence you have moved commercial numbers, not just rankings
  • Comfortable presenting to and disagreeing with business owners
  • Curious about how social and web work affects search, even if you do not do either
  • Able to work United Kingdom client hours from wherever you are based

Nice to have, not required

  • Experience with migrations that did not lose traffic — and the scar tissue from one that did
  • Familiarity with semantic SEO and topical mapping approaches
  • Some comfort with scripting or AI tooling to remove repetitive work

You’d probably be unhappy here if…

  • You want a defined ladder and title changes on a schedule
  • You prefer strategy that somebody else turns into deliverables
  • You would rather not talk to clients directly

We put this on every job for the same reason we put it on every service page: finding out in month three costs us both far more than reading it now.

The Package

What you get

  • A published salary range — we do not negotiate people down from it, and we will not ask what you currently earn.
  • Remote — United Kingdom — we ask for overlap hours with the team and your clients, not a chair.
  • Paid learning time — courses, conferences and certifications covered, with time in the week to use them.
  • Your own tooling budget, including AI tooling. Nobody here does a job badly because a licence was refused.
  • A portfolio you keep — with client permission, the work is yours to show.
  • A capped client load — we limit how many accounts we take on precisely so nobody carries twelve.

Applying

How to apply

Send us something you have built — a site, an audit, a campaign, a workflow, a piece of writing — along with a short note about why this role. A CV on its own tells us very little, and we would rather read one real thing than three pages of bullet points.

Put “Senior SEO Strategist” in the subject line. We read every application and we reply either way, usually with a reason. If we go quiet for more than a week, chase us — that is our failure, not yours.

No recruiters or agencies, please. We hire directly and always have.
